Warlock Update

Adventurers, gather round the table!Today we’re proud to release a major update for Demeo x DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Battlemarked. The Warlock Update introduces a new playable hero, a frozen trial for seasoned adventurers, expanded language support, significant changes to multiplayer party composition, and a range of gameplay improvements designed to deepen tactical play across the realms. At the center of this update stands a new figure stepping from shadow, waiting for his new adventure.

New Hero: Azruss the Human Warlock
Azruss Drevontir joins Battlemarked as a fully playable Warlock hero, wielding eldritch magic born of infernal promise. Unlike heroes who study or inherit their power, the Warlock bargains for it, trading certainty for potential, stability for devastating force.
His class-based deck introduces pact-bound spells, battlefield manipulation, and volatile abilities that reward bold positioning and precise coordination. Azruss brings new cards, traits, weapons, and color customization options, allowing players to shape how his power manifests at the table.
To unlock the Warlock permanently, players must complete a new side quest in Campaign 2: The Shard’s Shadow, set within Crown of Frost. Once completed, Azruss becomes available for all future campaigns and adventures, ready to join any party willing to embrace the risks that come with his power.
One-Shot Addition: Auril’s Cradle
For those seeking greater challenge, Auril’s Cradle arrives as a One Shot experience. Forged in the cruelty of the frozen north, this standalone encounter becomes available to players who have unlocked Ythryn in the second campaign, Crown of Frost.
The Realms Expand
With Ritual of Shadows, the call to adventure reaches farther than ever. By popular demand, Battlemarked now supports Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese to all available platforms.
Phase 2: Hirelings Redesign
This update also marks Phase 2 of our Hirelings redesign. Following player feedback and continued evaluation of cooperative dynamics, hirelings have now been fully removed from multiplayer, following the previous plan (Phase 1 for single player).
So what does this mean?
Moving forward, every hero at the table is player-created and fully progression-enabled. Previously, hirelings served as temporary party fillers and did not progress beyond supporting a player’s main character. With this redesign, all heroes in multiplayer and single player are now part of a player’s roster, gaining experience and contributing meaningfully to long-term progression.
In the party management screen, players can assign their own custom-created heroes, and the active party is automatically formed using heroes from each participant. We’ve also introduced functionality to replace heroes if a player drops out mid-session. Substitute heroes can be selected to keep the adventure moving without disrupting balance.
To preserve fairness and prevent mid-level exploits, most hero additions and replacements are handled on the map rather than during active encounters.
Bad Luck Protection
Feeling frustrated from the miss streaks? Bad Luck Protection system is here to help you, inspired by Tymora’s Blessing. When a player misses an attack roll, they are granted a temporary blessing that rolls two dice in their next combat attempt and takes the higher result. This feature can be toggled off at any time for those who prefer an uncompromising experience.
Stronger Foes: Difficulty Settings Improvements
We’ve also expanded One Shot difficulty options. Elite enemy variants now appear across Normal, Hard, and Very Hard settings. Bosses in One Shots feature different versions depending on the selected difficulty, and players can now enable or disable respawning enemies for added customization.
Alongside these changes comes a broad range of gameplay bug fixes, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements designed to refine and stabilize the overall experience.
